Sound Therapy and Holistic Voice Therapy are a good alternative to counselling and psychotherapy. We can work on many of the same issues and you can feel witnessed, listened to and heard, in a confidential, safe space with someone who cares about you and without judgement.

Whilst counselling and psychotherapy approaches might focus on telling your story, we focus more on the actual experience of the challenge or issue; how you feel it in your body, what it looks like, what it sounds like, the imagery, thoughts and self dialogue that goes with it, the beliefs involved and how it affects your life. Then we can apply a sound tool – either for you to do, or to listen to, and in that special space created by the sound, things shift, new ideas occur, feelings may bubble up to be released and insights can come around how to move forward.

Voice Therapy tools and breath and movement practices for expressing held emotions or relieving stress and anxiety are surprisingly effective and bring release. I have had clients say they have moved forward more quickly with sound and voice work than they had in long periods of talking therapy. As with any therapy, the relationship is paramount; feeling accepted, non-judged, supported and safe.

The kinds of issues we can work with are stress, anxiety, relationship, trauma, bereavement and loss, self-esteem and acceptance, anger, addiction, emotional support, major life changes, making positive changes, health etc. Almost any issues and challenges can be worked through but if you have a serious mental health issue you may need to get confirmation from your doctor beforehand.
