Day 9 Today let’s start with paperwork.
C e l e b r a t e!!!
What do you do with your post? Do you take action straightaway or does it pile up (in various places) waiting for (or avoiding) action?
Today’s task is to take any action on your papers. Pay, calendar, and file or release any paperwork that is lying around. Let’s see if we can make this a new daily habit of handling what comes through the door once, and taking action on it the first time you handle it.
If you can’t take action right away, I suggest diarising or putting a reminder on your phone there and then to do it on x day and then filing it. Many of us prone to clutter leave things lying around to remind us to do things. We can find other ways to remind us if we can’t deal with it the first time.
If you are already good at this, you could start going through other papers. Any that are lying around or that need filing or going through old files to better organise and/ or release. (most official papers you only need to keep for 7 years).
Today’s action options are: (choose whichever suits you best, any or all. )
a) Deal with post now
b) set timer for 5 mins clearing papers
c) commit to doing 5 pieces of paper (file, shred, recycle)
d) do a paperwork related admin task – car mot, insurance, tax, some other piece of paper waiting for you to do something– pay bill, make appointment – do it today. And then file or release the paper
e) if there’s none for you to do, have a day off. Well done
